Consultation

What to expect at your Ayurvedic consultation

A short guide so you arrive prepared and relaxed. If anything here is unclear, just call and ask.

What to bring

Keep these together in one bag the night before.

  • Old prescriptions and doctor’s notes
  • Old reports, X-rays or MRI scans, if you have any: they make the advice more precise
  • All medicines you take now: the strips or bottles, or a written list
  • A short note of your problem: when it started and what makes it better or worse
  • Someone to come with you, if that makes the visit easier

What happens during the visit

  1. You tell your story

The doctor listens to your main concern and asks how long it has been going on.

  2. Questions about your day

Expect questions about appetite, digestion, sleep, work and what a normal day looks like for you.

  3. The examination

The doctor looks at both your constitution and your complaint. This may include Nadi Pariksha (pulse examination) and any physical examination needed.

  4. Advice and next steps

You receive advice on food and routine. Whether you need Panchakarma, Kshar Sutra or any therapy is decided only after the examination. The doctor will tell you when to come back.

A private and respectful consultation

What you say and your examination stay private. You can speak freely, including about piles, a fistula or women’s health concerns.

In an emergency, do not wait for a clinic.

Go to the nearest hospital immediately, or call an ambulance, if you or someone with you has:

  • Chest pain, pressure or tightness
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Severe bleeding that does not stop
  • Fainting or loss of consciousness
  • Sudden weakness or numbness of the face, arm or leg, or slurred speech

Questions people ask

Do I need to book a time?

Please call or WhatsApp to book a time so the doctor can give you full attention.

I feel shy talking about piles or a fistula. What should I do?

There is no need to feel shy: get the right advice. The consultation is private and respectful, and the doctor examines you fully before discussing anything further.

Will Panchakarma or a therapy start on my first visit?

Whether you need a therapy, and which one, is decided only after the examination. The doctor explains everything before anything is started.

Should I stop my current medicines?

No. Do not stop or change any medicine on your own. Bring all your medicines and tell the doctor about each one.

Can Ayurveda replace emergency care?

No. For the warning signs listed on this page, go to a hospital straight away. Ayurvedic advice is not a substitute for emergency treatment.
